User Interface (UI)

Roblox has both in world and Screen based UI. This page is a quick overview of some of the most common UI Examples.

The User Interface is a key part in any experience. Roblox offers an overlay approach to UI or in world UI such as on covering an asset in world.

Screen and Surface Gui Examples...

Many Roblox games tend to have pretty generic or even terrible User Experiences when it comes to UI, so with a little bit of work you can stand out.

When it comes to VR UI becomes very important if you are wanting to create the most immersive experience possible. In-world interactions are better for immersion if at all possible.

There are some standard UI elements available to use such as :

  • Frame - can act as a container for UI Element Layout.

  • TextLabel - A simple Text element.

  • TextButton - Creates a button with text.

  • TextBox - Allows for text box that can be editable.

  • ImageLabel - A simple Image element.

  • ImageButton - An Image that acts as a button.

On top of that there are some layout tools that allow for more advanced functionality such as :

  • ScrollingFrame - Allows for elements to be contained within a Scroll box.

  • UIGridLayout - Allows for automatic layout using a grid.

  • UIListLayout - Allows for automatic layout using a list.
